The above book "Visual Testament and the Israelite Indian" by Tom Cryer, is by far the best reference I have ever found on Native American culture and traditions. He has done the same type of research and study that Bart did but Bart chose not to publish his work.

Every little boy should have a Bart and Bobbie in their lives.
This is the way I remembered Bart. We spent every minute we could together scouring the country for Indian relics. He could find relics where no one else could. He would draw pictures, catalog them, and we would replace them as we found them. As mentioned in the book, we found three flat top mesas where we spent most of our summers exploring.
Bart gave me my Atle-atle, which is a spear thrower, and taught me how to use it. He had almost every Kachina doll ever made and he knew all about them. His art work was almost life-like. He was an endless fountain of information about Native Americans, especially the Hopi. He is the one who instilled in me a love for these people and their culture.
Most of my references to Bart and Bobbie in the book are fairly close to the way things really were. I was devastated when they moved away and there has been a definite void in my life since that time.
I was quite surprised when I came across this picture on the web because the woman in the picture looks so much like how I remember Bobbie. Bobbie, with her smiling eyes and her warm, loving personality, could draw you in and make you feel like you were the most special person in the world. I used to spend hours talking to her and she made everything alright no matter what was going on with me. Bobbie was like your mother, sister, teacher, girl friend and most of all your best friend in the world.
I'm sure you can see why Bart and Bobbie made such an impact in my life. I loved them and I loved making them part of my story.
